Character Name: Vincent Laeretti
Gender: Male
Race: Crescent
Character Age: 28
Height/Build: 6'01", 155 lbs
Character Appearance: Vincent has a calm, stoic appearance. He normally refrains from letting intense emotions show on his face, choosing instead to only use slight smiles or frowns, or lightly furrowing his brow as the need arises.
He is tall, with the signature pale skin of his race. His eyes are black, his hair is short, falling into his face mildly. He wears a thin pair of spectacles, as he is slightly near-sighted.
He typically dresses in white clothing, though he is also fond of deep blues and violets. His typical garb consists of a pair of white trousers, a long sleeved, white shirt with carefully sewn lining, and a white or violet Mantle which covers his chest and shoulders and falls behind him like a cloak, which can also be closed from the front. He discards the mantle in combat.
Special Power/Ability: While not technically a power, he has a very acute "people sense". He is adept at judging the character of a person.
Personality: Vincent is mostly a serious individual, very prideful and also very convicting. He has a strong moral compass and believes in the rights of justice and order in all things. He absolutely abhors mistreatment of the innocent, and is fully intent on punishing the guilty.
Vincent is able to keep calm in most situations, even in those that threaten his life. He is very observant, an excellent tactician, and seldom shows signs of worry or distress.
To those he deems worthy, he is impressively loyal, and holds those people in very high esteem. Earning this worth is another matter all together. To the unworthy, he is aloof and superior, looking down upon them and caring little on a personal level, though on a general level, he will care enough to ensure an innocent is not met with injustice.
Around the few people with whom he lets his guard down, he is a very caring, compassionate person. Those who are very close to him are treated with reverence, respect, and even adoration.
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Likes: Law, Order, Tangy Flavors, kindness, respect, Justice
Dislikes: Misconduct, cruelty, vermin, riffraff, injustice
History: Vincent was born and raised in Artavia by his wealthy mother and father, both of whom were renowned inventors, Roark Belus Laeretti and Alexandria Laeretti. Their inventions drastically improved the quality of life in Artavia, and generally were a great help to all of Setsuwa.
He was a very protective older brother, looking after his three siblings with devotion (even his older sister, Cecilia). Of them, he particularly favored his Crescent brother, Endless, the second youngest child. Like himself, Endless had black hair, which was odd for a Crescent. In fact, he tended to be teased for it by the other Crescent children in their Artavian Settlement. However, Vincent was always rather intimidating, and thus got them to leave Endless alone whenever he was around. He was very vocal on his idealism that the way Endless was treated was simply a travesty, and an injustice. It simply wasn't fair.
His love of all things just and pure led to his discovery of a certain man when he was 15 - Lord Markus Woodrow, the founder of the Sumish Sea Peacekeeper's Brigade. He had heard many stories about the man, and idolized him. Woodrow shared many of his own ideals, but something about him was so much more....grand. Vincent dreamed of the opportunity to serve beneath him.
He felt that if he could become an officer of the GSPB, he could be that much more capable of protecting his cherished ones.
When he was Sixteen years old, a group of bandits comprised of those elementally aligned to Darkness, such as Demons, Hollows, and Keramun, being led by a smaller group of Lamini, raided the area he was living in, killing many of the residents there. Their primary objective was the Laeretti family. The Lamini woman heading the raid had been asked to take them out, simply because her patron was apparently someone who felt that the Laerettis were getting far too influential for his own good, and decided they needed to be taken out before that influence grew any further.
The house was set ablaze as the bandits finally set upon it. Vincent was desperate to save anyone he could, and at the top of his list was his beloved little brother. However, the onset of the flames became too great, and he knew he had to escape, mourning the loss of his brother. However, he managed to locate his sister, unconscious beneath some rubble which barely formed a little safety space around her. Snatching her up, he fled the scene. His parents and other siblings perished.
Using what little pocket money he possessed, he boarded a Artavian transport Vessel and headed for one specific location - Submiere. While there, he seriously considered what he would have to do. He could not support his little sister. Not with the life he needed to lead for her sake. So he took her to an orphanage.
It was made slightly easier to part with her when she briefly came to, only to express a lack of any memories of him or of who she was. It would be better that way. If she didn't know she was a Laeretti, she would be safer from any of those bandits who might still be hunting for their missing bodies.
He told the woman minding the shelter that he had found her alone on the streets, with no memory of who she was. The woman accepted her and took custody, asking if she at least had a name. Vincent nodded, choosing a girl's name that meant "Love".
He told her the girl had said her name was Aiko.
As soon as the matter was resolved, he decided to do what needed to be done.
He needed power - the power to crush the scum that took his family. The power to crush the vile evil's of the world. The power to bring Justice's reign to fruition. He tracked down the GSPB's HQ. Upon arrival, he asked to see Lord Woodrow, appearing desperate, saying that he wished to join.
When Woodrow came to see him, Vincent immediately dropped to one knee, bowed, and pleaded to The Lord that he be allowed to join his ranks, swearing his allegiance and promising to follow Woodrow down the path of Justice faithfully.
Woodrow appeared to see something he liked, and allowed. In the ten years since, Vincent has worked diligently under Woodrow, climbing the ranks, to the point where many began to refer to him as Woodrow's "Invisible Right hand". The reason being that Vincent stayed away from most of the public's view, carrying out Woodrow's orders silently and efficiently.
Occasionally, he checks in on his sister without her knowledge, hoping she would someday regain her true memory.
