Character Name: Artemis Mikhael
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Character Age: 25
Height/Build: 210 lb.
Character Appearance: Artemis is a tall one, even by human standards. He towers over a majority of the men and women he comes across, appearing to be intimidating even when he is not making an attempt at that. He finds ways to use his size to his advantage. Despite his height, he is not a particularly bulky individual, having a slim build. He appears to be thin at first glance, but a closer look will reveal some muscle content. He is not of an athletic build, but it looks like he is getting there, and will soon be with a little bit more exercise.
He has white hair. It is a hereditary trait, as both of his parents had intensely dark hair. He wondered for a short while of his childhood if the abnormal color of his hair was as a result of some mixing of species somewhere in his early ancestors lives, but soon gave up on that theory. It wasn't of importance regardless. It is a bit wispy, and someone looking too closely at it could get the impression that it is thin and on the verge of crumbling away. Despite it's appearance though, the hair is strong and vital. It is quite long, stopping some ways down his back, and generally tied into a ponytail to make life easier.
His general clothing is average, during those times he moves around in towns casually. Those times are not often of course, as he is obsessed with his job and almost never takes a break. When he does, he does like to spend some fulfilling time wandering the towns and this is when he would be seen in average trousers, shirts, boots, and so forth. The same for when he is freely smithing for someone. While on the job, his attire is the same. He will always wear all-black. He will be seen in black boots, trousers, shirt, and so on, all compliment by a long black hooded cloak.
While he does carry a sword, it is really his backup weapon, as he will hardly lay a hand on it. His preferred method of fighting is his glaive, which can almost always be seen upon his person. It is strapped to his back diagonally, as it's height will not allow for it to be placed vertically. It is as tall as a full grown adult male human.
Special Power/Ability: Survival knowledge, that is, able to forage for food, build campfires, basic first aid, and so forth.
Personality: Artemis is not a straightforward individual. He is more than likely even more confused about his own base emotions than someone who is watching him. Ever since losing all that held him together, his own mentality has become quite twisted, those parts of the human emotion that are supposed to be there now having been almost completely removed from him. He is a hollow shell of the person he once used to be, gazing at others as if they were the same. It is rare for him to look at another person like that person really is a living, breathing individual, and not simply another thing taking up room on the surface of Setsuwa.
Almost all his time is spent on the tracking down and destruction of demons and all demonic beings. It is his utter obsession, and what consumes his thoughts for almost every single minute of every single day. It is what he thinks of when he goes to bed, and it is what he thinks of when he wakes in the morn. Anytime he walks into a populated area, he is wondering just how many of the people around him are demons in human skin, and how many are not. Why he does it he does not know, but he thinks it is more along the lines of a sociopathic need for revenge, rather than doing what his right. He is a very short way away from being a serial killer.
When he is not entranced by his own hatred of demons, he likes to spend his time enjoying the more subtle aspects of life. Artemis, unlike a lot of those his age, does not enjoy random intercourse with whores and different women about the street. He actually, rarely ever look at a woman in a sexual light. His mind is much too tainted for him to start thinking things in that sort of a direction. There is the occasional moment where he will find himself attracted to a woman, but he hardly ever acts upon it. For those women, he reminds himself that he has seen one too many men fall because of the emotions they felt, and promises himself he would never allow it happen to him.
He enjoys storytelling greatly, as it allows him to for a time, leave the misery of his own life and sink into the memories and stories of others. The heroes of old, the different lore of various religions and beliefs. Sometimes, when passing through small towns, he even enjoys sitting down with the innkeepers and other locals and listening to the local gossip, as stories of simple townlife entertain him greatly.
He particularly dislikes it whenever he is asked any questions in relation to what he plans on doing in the future. He cannot begin to explain to people the complexities involved with his life and why he cannot afford to sit back and live a regular life, cannot begin to explain to them the curse that was placed on his head, that is gradually killing him slowly. Until he can find a source of power great enough to tear the curse from his soul, his life can only be about killing demons, until a solution presents itself.
Children greatly fascinate Artemis, much to the dismay of their parents. He is able to sit back and watch the acts of children for hours, which will naturally lead the more bored and suspicious of individuals to assume that he is some sort of a pervert, but in truth this is not the case. The innocence of children is what calls to him so, and he spends much time contemplating why it is that adults cannot have the same purity of heart and mind. Some may say life experiences with cruel individuals change people, but what about the first ever set of people? What happened with them? These are the things he sometimes ponders upon.
Nothing annoys Artemis more than noise. Noise in general, either stemming from unruly bar patrons, or annoying attention seekers, and people such as that. It is one of the reasons he prefers to make his travels alone. Excess talking and speech gets on his nerves, and while he has an excellent reign on his temper, he still has limits to his patience. He does not enjoy having to be tested every five minutes. Because of this, if faced with trouble or the potential of trouble from a drunk or generally aggressive person, he is more likely to back down and walk away than anything else.
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Likes: - Silence. The times spent in silence are one of the things valued greatly by the man, as he adores being able to sit down in a secluded area, such as a completely abandoned glade and be left to do nothing but meditate. Keeping your body and mind alert is not as easy as some make it to be, and it requires long hours of focus and discipline.
- Dignity. Anyone who does not have dignity disgusts Artemis. This includes people who beg for their lives whenever they are faced with danger, or something similar to that. He believes you must go through life standing upright, or not go through it at all.
- Honesty. As Artemis himself will never tell a lie, he idealistically expects the same in return to him. He understands that there is rampant dishonesty in the world, but he does not care, and will not take excuses. One of the few things that can set him on his toes and cause a loss of temper is the discovery that someone blatantly deceived him and attempted to get away with it.
- Violence. Although he does not like to admit it to himself, there is a certain thing about violence and fighting that he has fallen in love with. The feel of the adrenaline, the rush of blood through your veins, the intense emotions you feel during the time of crisis. All of these appeal to him greatly, and if he goes for too long a time without it, he begins to feel lost.
- Cake. Not much more to say... he likes cake.
Dislikes: - Demons. Perhaps the thing Artemis hates more than any other is the abomination of a demon. Extremely hard to identify for what they truly are, they walk around in human skin, moving unsuspectingly about the other races, waiting to strike... he is determined to find them all and wipe them off the face of Setsuwa.
- Angels. While he has never seen an angel, he has indeed heard of them. If he ever did see one, he is not likely to attack, but it is extremely probably he will be rude and disrespectful. If the angels are supposed to be celestial guardians, why do they hide away while the planet is faced with so many problems and it's people are suffering?
- Magic. Most think it to be a cowards way of handling things, but this is not how he views it. As a being who prefers stealthy attacks and stabbing a victim through the heart from the back, he is not one to judge cowardice. Really, he does not like magic because he does not understand it, and therefore does not trust it.
- Modern day heroes. Artemis loves to hear the stories from the beings and heroes of the old times, but not so much the same of those nowadays. In his eyes, the beings who fight for what is 'good', are nothing but glory seeking twats who need to be stabbed in the throat and put out of their misery.
