The following thread is a (relatively) detailed account of the various modes of travel you can find throughout Setsuwa. My primary hope in the creation of this information thread is that it will have people take into account their character having to travel to get from point A to point B. If you have any questions, or if a single thing seems the least bit unclear, please post here or PM me.
- By Ground
- Mount
Various mounts are available for travel across land. The most common of these is the simple, and cheap, horse. This method of travel is very common for single travellers or when travelling on a budget. There are several other grounded mounts that can be used such as: Anpu (only the fully grown are large enough), Binicorni, Candrials, Chimeras, Horses, and Unicorns.
- Stagecoach/Carriage/Mount-Drawn Cart
A choice way of travel within large cities, and occasionally between them. This method does cost more than simply using a mount or buying a ticket for a passenger train, but they exist in every area of Setsuwa and are notably comfortable if you pay for more than just the basic, old rickety brand.
- Passenger Train
The passenger train is an effective way to travel, particularly in the way that it is cheap and fast. The only issue is, is that it does not exist in many cities (and in some countries) and it only stops at specific destinations. The passenger train of Aebrynis makes stops in Dimant, Kristallen, Rupestia (all of Dirys), Esenden, Radeci (all of Liesdro), M'taer and Necesa (all of Muerte). The passenger train of Acheron makes stops in Eersaeb (of Submiere), Matiera, Montevir and Quesier (all of Niseca), and Hyeres (of Fiamont). Finally, The passenger train of Eleusia makes stops in Ancoeb, Infusco, Malium, Tytes and Praiir (all of Malscure) and Oculum and Prestego (all of Rielcia).

[/li][li] Mount
Some mounts are available for travel across or through sea. This method of travel is very common for single travellers or when travelling on a budget. The following are the types of sea mounts that can be ridden over and under the surface: Crallen and Gentoo Dragons
[/li][li] Sail Boat/Ship
The typical way of travel for both those planning to stay on the water for a long time, or those travelling for scenic value. Sail Boats are typically only used on smaller bodies of water, and can hold several people along with supplies. There are two kinds of sail boats, ones that are run with magic, and ones that are run by a series of mechanics. The former is far more common. A ship, on the other hand, is a much larger vessel that is not able to be sailed with a small amount of people. It is historically known for it's use by pirates, and presently known for the use by the Sumish Sea Peacekeeper's Brigade.
[/li][li] Passenger Ship
A passenger ship is the most common way of travelling across sea. It is large, and thus can hold a multitude of people. There are several docks all throughout Setsuwa that hold harbours for passenger ships, and many companies sell lifetime passes for their transportation. It gets the riders to their destination in a sensible time, and with plenty of comfort along the way.[/blockquote]
[/li][li] By Air
[/li][li] Mount
Various mounts are available for travel through the skies. In fact some cities throughout Setsuwa make it a point to have all citizens riding a number of these creatures. The most common of these is the simple and rather cheap Dragon. This method of travel is very common for single travellers or when travelling on a budget. There are several other flying mounts that can be used such as: Abraxan, Charback, Corrupt Dragon, Crimp, Deusa, Dragon, Gentoo Dragon, Griffon, Jareiden, Snowsnout and Zizgran.
[/li][li] Airship
An airship is completely akin to the typical passenger ship over sea. It is large, can be filled with a multitude of people and is a fast, comfortable way to get from one place to another. The main difference is that the two kinds of ships in this category (one run by magic and the other by hot air) travel through the air as opposed to on the sea. It is the choice way to travel from the mainland to locations such as Vieri, Aurcaele and Artavia. It is not unheard of for these ships to take off from one destination on the continental areas of Setsuwa and simply fly to another, however.
[/li][li] Hot air balloon
The choice option for air-travel for those without mounts and with a great want to see the world from above. A hot air balloon is a small contraption made of a basket large enough for upwards of four people, a balloon capable of containing heated air and an open flame, all of which is strung together in a sturdy fashion. It is a particularly slow way to travel, but it is often the choice of world travellers for it's unpredictability and patient pace.[/blockquote]
[/li][li] Other
[/li][li] Magic
Magic is one of the most common ways of travel in Setsuwa, seeing as most people on the planet have some form of magical training. Teleportation is a spell that is taught in schools during the final year of training, and thus is commonly seen throughout most of Setsuwa's learned population. It is not easy to learn by one's self, but it is sometimes seen as a skill that is gained from vigorous training from books. Some races have teleportation as an inherent skill. The only place that can not be teleported to is Artavia. Since 1943, barriers have surrounded the country to prevent magic usage - including transportation magics.[/blockquote]
In order to teleport you must have a MINIMUM wisdom of 201.

If you can think of any other modes of transportation that I may have overlooked, please post it here and I'll be sure to address it.
