Character Name: Pelagia Xista
Gender: Female
Race: Seanglex
Character Age: 22
Height: 6" Ft.
Weight: 135 lbs
Character Appearance:
Pelagia is a rather beautiful, yet frightening specimen to behold. She has a very commanding aura, and stands at an intimidating six feet, though she appears to be taller with the aid of her wings' presence. Her hair is a pale violet shade, and falls softly over her shoulders and the left side of her face, all the way down past her waist until it reaches about knee length.
Her skin is very slightly tanned, and is absolutely void of blemishes. Her face is set well, with a straight, fare nose and nice cheeks and lips. The positioning of her eyes seems just right on her face's frame.
Here eyes, though, seem to hold an ever present expression of boredom and superiority. They also hold an unmistakably cruel, almost evil glint to them. One look from those eyes is enough to unnerve some of the most courageous Setsuwans.
She is draped in fine, silky gowns of a light blue tint. She has two pairs of transparent, glowing wings on her back, the lower pair larger than the upper. Lastly, she has one small pair of the same wings on either side of her head.
Special Power/Ability: Nothing especially unique.
Personality:
Pelagia is a cruel, violent, practically heartless woman. She values violence above most things, and will take any excuse to use force. She is also vengeful, manipulative, and vain. In fact, one of the things she prizes above violence or her own strength is her beauty and position of power.
She uses people, tosses them aside when done, and will not hesitate to put them down should they be unhappy with that arrangement.
However, she does have a "Public Face", which must be maintained in order to help further her position. To the public's eye, she is strong and commanding, but also a protective leader with poise, grace, and manners. She knows how to give all the right smiles at parties, knows just how to talk to someone, and will even use meaningless flattery to make Noble's and the like think highly of her.
She thirsts for power, influence, and even greater social standing, and never ceases her pursuit of it. She will never give anything for free - everything has a price, a string attached. Those who know her personally, and are still alive to tell the tale, will warn any and all to never accept a gift from her. Chances are, it will end badly.
She has a great desire to obtain the new lands at steak in the war, and in an effort to sway the people of Aurcaele into agreement with her and her methods, she uses propaganda flawlessly, stressing the importance of Aurcaele keeping land on the globe, as well as keeping it out of the tainting reach of places like Muerte, and of coarse, Malscure. She especially despises Malscure, thanks to its Warlord, who she sees as a threat to her own advancement in the world, and is vehement in her desire to see Cowell dead.
However twisted her faith may be, she does in fact believe in the Goddess of Life, and also chooses to believe that she is fully supported in her ventures by this Goddess - the world is crawling with filth that reek of death, the very same death that pinned Ayniea's soul to her body and prevented her from saving her beloved. Pelagia, in all her vile ways, believes that she can rid the death-reekers from the world by giving them precisely what they live for - death, and nothing short of it.
A true Venus Flytrap...stray not too close, despite the allure. Beware.

History:
In her younger days, she was a total introvert, keeping to herself and drawing pictures in a sketchbook. The pictures tended to be of death, in various forms. She would start by drawing a happy scene, and would then introduce something into the picture half way through that would change the entire context of the piece, changing it into something dark. She was the only child of the two Nobles of the House of Xista in Aurcaele, and was raised to be lady-like and polite, which certainly served her well in her later years.
Without her parents' knowledge, she trained herself in the ways of combat on a daily basis, obsessively becoming more skilled in the many ways of combat, both physical and magical. She also paid close attention to politics, learning extensively about all the warlords that had been presently in power.
On her sixteenth birthday, she was introduced to a consort by her parents, with the hopes that the man of their choosing (a Nobleman from the friendly country of Vieri) would take Pelagia as his wife. She treated him with false kindness and smiles, which led to him trying to kiss her once in the privacy of her quarters. Enraged, she pushed him away, only to have him get frustrated.
"I don't like girls who play hard to get." he had said angrily, and tried to force her down upon the floor.
She was surprised at his actions for all of two seconds before she placed her hands firmly on either side of his head, and swiftly snapped his neck. Kicking him off of her, she called for a servant.
"Clean up this mess." she had ordered before calling her parents to her.
Her parents had been shocked and appalled when they saw the Noble's dead body on the floor, the servant standing by having no idea what to do.
"Mother, father, I have news. I have no desire for the kind of life you have laid out for me. I will not be some mindless pervert's toy to take home with him. Not for your sake."
And she had said no more on the matter. From that point on, she researched politics obsessively, reading history books and learning all she could about how the great came to power, and how they kept it.
The Noble's death had been covered up - the body was burned, his servants taken hostage and later killed, and the Xista Servant who had seen the body was also disposed of. The matter was reported as a mysterious disappearance, both parents claiming that he had never arrived.
Pelagia was satisfied with this, as such news might ruin her chance at her goals. Then an idea formed.
One year after the death of the Noble, Pelagia "discovered" his charred, burned corpse buried beneath the soil of her parents' estate. She demanded an "explanation and investigation." It was concluded, based on evidence planted by Pelagia slowly over the coarse of the year, that her parents had killed him, burned him, and buried the body.
The Xistas were once again outraged, claiming that Pelagia had been the one to kill him. Pelagia simply gave them a tear-streaked face.
"How could you have done such a thing?" she had asked. "He had sent me letters prior to his arrival; I was so sure we would fall in love. You took his life, and ruined my happiness! Why?"
The public sided with Pelagia, believing her sympathetic ploy. Her parents were stripped of rank, and as the new head of the family, Pelagia ordered their tearful execution.
Shortly afterward, she entered an Aurcaelen tournament to prove her strength on the battlefield, claiming first place with ease. The tournament had been designed for Aurcaelen soldiers and soldiers-in-training, and the land was shocked to learn that a Noblewoman had entered and won. As was the right of the victor, she challenged the current head of military affairs in Aurcaele, and bested him in combat as well.
It was decided that she would succeed him upon this, and she gladly took the rank - finally, she had become the warlord of her land. One step closer.
To gain public support, she decided to marry at age 19, once she had finally gotten everything settled into her current lifestyle. The masses greatly approved of this.
The wedding was a happy occasion, Pelagia choosing to marry her current military adviser. He was all too happy to do so, as he believed she loved him; the results of her manipulation and playing with his heart.
Six months after their wedding, he died of a rare heart disease, one that came on suddenly in the body, and due to its speed, was difficult to treat, even by experienced doctors. Pelagia mourned the loss at the funeral, deciding she would not marry again - her heart had gone with her departed beloved. And unbeknownst to the public, she had given him the poison that infected him.
Currently, she has overwhelming support from her country, the masses believing her to be a strong woman who has endured so much loss and yet still stands resolute.
However, there are many who do not feel quite the same way about her, and regard her as distasteful and a monster. Of course, these people never say such things to her face; despite her devout and determined public face, her violence is no secret, and her reputation is feared by many all throughout Setsuwa.
She keeps only one individual close - her Second, Ashlin Driel, a girl whom she selected on a seeming whimsy. There is much more beneath their surface than meets the eye.
She is ever plotting, waiting for her chance to seize more power. Her eyes are set on the Church of Life - The Four stand in her way, and she is unwilling to accept that. After them, of course, is the Queen herself. While swearing loyalty to her royal highness, in her utmost sincerity (and even proving that loyalty countless times), it is known only to Ashlin that she seeks to someday overthrow her and claim her "right" as the ruler of Aurcaele.
After all, it's anything but common, but not unheard of for a High-ranking Noble to succeed the throne...assuming the proper conditions have been met.
Someday, she hopes to hold the very world in her hands.
