Character Name: Xanthe
Gender: Female
Race: Embodiment
Character Age: Unknown
Height: 5'6
Weight: 20 lbs
Character Appearance: Xanthe may not be the tallest of the bunch, and she certainly isn’t the heaviest, but she has an air of authority and anger about her that tells people before she even opens her mouth to back the hell off. This is especially true when she is confronted by a soldier from one of the other countries. Her body has a thin, lithe and athletic build that allows her extra agility which helps greatly in fights. Her strength isn’t particularly lacking, but she hardly looks like she could do much damage physically as her muscles are wiry rather than bulky and they can hardly be seen.
Her eyes are the colour of honey, although there’s hardly anything sweet about her, and they are framed by dark lashes. She almost always looks serious, thoughtful, and calculating and she often looks through people rather than at them. Her hair is the same honey colour of her eyes and it falls below her hips when let down. Most of the time it will be held up in pigtails or a single ponytail to keep it out of her face and bangles can often be seen decorating her hair.
Her clothes are generally light greens and yellows in colour and she dresses for warm weather, wearing shorts and tank tops often. When she dresses formally it is usually in a beautiful golden dress or a nice skirt, and when she tries to negotiate with the warriors she wears long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and boots. She loves to wear earrings and belts and necklaces, but when she fights she makes sure not to have them on as they give her opponent something to grab hold of and pull on, and that’s not good. One would think that she would cut her hair for this same reason, but she wouldn’t dream of it.
She is always seen with some sort of decorative fabric on her arms, most often shaped like wings or something of the sort, and she uses them as just that. She loves to fly. And just as she is always seen with her fabric wings, she is never seen without her lock and key, tribal heirlooms that were passed down to her when she was appointed the leader of the Attonian forces. She’s not quite sure what they do though.
Special Power/Ability: She can control storms and every aspect of them. For example, using static electricity and wind she is able to use fabric as wings and fly.
Personality: Xanthe is not what you would call a happy person. She may have been at some point in her life, but all that is far behind her now, and has been since her country was invaded by soldiers and warlords and the conflicts of the rest of the world. Now she has been appointed the leader of the Attonian forces, but she doesn’t feel much hope for her cause. They are so few, and the opposing forces are so many. Already many of her number have fallen and she hasn’t even led them to battle yet, leaving her feeling as though she may lose her country forever. But she puts on a brave face and continues to try negotiating with the invaders, hoping that they will realize this country was doing fine without them and they should just go away.
But they continue to flood in and she simply can’t stop them and no one even bothers to listen to her broken speech because what do they care about the people who already live here? Why would they care that they are destroying the Attonian way of life, bringing in trouble when everything was going well. She hates them for it and although her situation seems hopeless she would rather die than let them take her country and she will not be going down without a fight. She tries to learn their language but it is a very different dialect than she is used to and she has only picked up bits and pieces from spying on the opposing forces. It frustrates her to no end when she can’t convey her thoughts and her pleads in a way that the invaders will understand, and there is nothing worse than not knowing what they’re saying to her. Well, besides them having invaded in the first place. That is definitely worse than not being able to understand them.
She is the kind of person who always stands up for what she thinks is right and will fight for her beliefs, her people, and her country until either all their opposition is dead, or she is. There is no middle ground in her world. You are either her friend, or her enemy. And you do not want her to be your enemy. Two things drive her actions: fear of failure, and anger towards whatever made her feel that fear. In this case, the rest of Setsuwa. Watch out, she's not about to forgive and forget and once you're on her bad side, you're pretty much screwed.
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Likes: Storms Flying The way things were The smell after it rains Dew Bright colours Watching the stars Sunny days Warmth Cool winds
Dislikes: The war Everyone trying to invade her country Not being able to speak their language Not being able to understand their language Stubbing her toe Animals that screech Whiny children Weakness Knowing if she fails, her entire tribe will die Not knowing things
History: She was born during a strong storm, but rather than scream and cower like most babies, children, and even some adults would, she fell asleep to the sound of the thunder. She was always a different kind of child than the rest of the kids in her village but that never bothered her. She was always curious about things and would often get into trouble trying to find out how something worked or what would happen if she did something. She was always happiest when it was storming and she would always dance in the rain and she often turned into a miniature storm herself, becoming a small bolt of lightning or some such thing. Her parents worried, as most parents would, but she could take care of herself.
She was always eager to try something new and was full of energy. A handful, for sure. When she was still quite young the other Attonian tribe and hers got into a war and her father went to fight in it. They ended up winning and wiping the other tribe out, but most of their warriors never came back. Her dad was one of those lost and it was like someone sucked all the life out of her. For a long while, maybe months, maybe years, she wasn't sure, she fell into a pit of despair, hardly talking or eating, not playing with her friends at all and simply wandering around, often leaving the village and trekking around Atton aimlessly.
She never left the country though, as her parents and the parents of every child had warned them about the dangers of the outside world. They were evil, corrupt people out there and the world beyond their borders held nothing good for their people.
She came out of her despair slowly and gradually, but she never fully went back to the person she had been. How could she? She couldn't go on living like her father was still there, and forgetting about him completely was definitely not an option. She felt guilty every time she laughed, feeling as though she was betraying her father by being happy when he was dead, his body never even found to be given a proper burial.
And then the unthinkable happened. People from the outside had come into Atton. They prepared for a fight or something, but when they came upon their camp later they saw that they all must have died. That was a relief, until they realized that one of them had gone back. And told the rest of the world about what he found. And then they had a war on their hands. Their little tribe against the battalions of every other country in Setsuwa. The odds aren't good, but she's been trying to negotiate with them, not that it's been working out so well. She can't speak their language and they certainly can't speak hers and this it's proving to be quite troublesome. She's spied on them and picked up a few of their words or phrases, but it's hardly enough to do anything with and she has a bad feeling about the whole thing.
